Tom Byrne

Artist Tom Byrne, a figure of boundless curiosity and creative brio. Dublin painter Tom Byrne blithely moves between abstraction and figuration, side stepping the debates that stir the avante garde. His subjects are city scapes, seascapes and portraits influenced by the writing of James Joyce. He depicts Ireland; its poets, its people, its cities, in many styles. He intends, he says, to paint himself to death. Byrne studied in the college of art and design Dunlaoire / Iadt and spent a year in the Kunst College Berlin, identified as an expressionist post punk artist early in his career while exhibiting as a member of the independent artists group headed by Michael Kane. Byrnes art is collected worldwide .
