Paul McHenry
Paul McHenry was born in Belfast and brought up in Coleraine. He was educated at CAI and QUB. In his forties he returned to college to study Graphic Design where his love of fine art was rekindled. He is best known for his sheep paintings which consist in the main of black faced sheep against a black background. The titles of his works stir a little bit of subtle humour or satire into the mix. Paul’s choice of palette is very economical and normally consists of only two or three colours. His use of thick acrylic paint, light and shadow creates a subject which literally emerges from the canvas and cannot help but engender an emotional response from the viewer.
